ARTIST STATEMENT & CV

Inspired by digital culture, my artistic practice employs digital technology, social media, and the Internet to collect and analyze patterns of online communication. I investigate how social networks are evolving through communication, connectivity, and image through multimedia works created with tools such as APIs, Zapier, and Processing. For instance, what does happy look like? What does fear look like? And how are individuals using images and hashtags to connect those ideas and each other?

In our online culture, data is being generated at an unprecedented rate. Rarely is data made public and rarely do we realize the breadth of information being collected. Collecting individual data helps to understand what information is generated and contributed to online communities, and it empowers ownership and control of personal data.
