Switch Statement: a control mechanism used to perform different actions based on values of an expression in computer programming.
The switch() series uses digital technology and crowdsourced Instagram photos to investigate patterns of online communication. Switching between popular hashtags, such as #love, #hateful, and #beautiful, these works analyze and display the color values from public photos. Each vertical band represents color values, which are displayed as a histogram, from one image. I am interested in combining other values from the same hashtag to look at how social networks are evolving through communication, connectivity, and image. How are users imagining beauty? What does fear look like? love? hate? And how are users leveraging photos and hashtags to connect those ideas?
